Lunaris Gemstones...What a gem!!!  Every pun intended.

I have been to Cockle Creek many times and passed Lunaris Gemstones on the way.

I did wonder what treasures Lunaris had within, and even though I have a fascination for gemstones and fossils, I never stopped.

Recently I was showing a couple of Queensland friends around the Cockle Creek region.  As we neared Lune River, they asked what was at Lunaris Gemstones, and I could not answer their question.

We stopped.  To my surprise, I found a fascinating showroom displaying an excellent range of Tasmania fossils and gemstones including Tasmanian Crocoite (the Mineral Emblem for Tasmania), Buttongrass Jade, the unique Tasmanian Stichtite, Tasmanian Black Tourmaline and rare Lune River Jurassic fossil fern along with other semiprecious stones from Tasmania and around the world.

Boris (Nigel Ellis), a qualified and knowledgeable gemmologist, is happy to talk with visitors about his passion.

If you have a fascination for Tasmanian fossils and gemstones or you are looking for a unique Tasmanian gift, I can recommend Lunaris Gemstones.  It is unquestionably worth the stop.

You can find Lunaris Gemstones in the far south of Tasmanian at Lune River near Ida Bay.  The showroom is well signposted.  If you are unable to head south, Lunaris Gemstones have a stall at the famous Salamanca Markets, Hobart every Saturday.
