Bruny Island Cruise

Looking for an adventure?

Then a Bruny Island Cruise could be for you.  The three-hour cruise is an exhilarating exploration of Bruny’s southern coast with breathtaking scenery, the wild Southern Ocean, and excellent opportunities to be greeted by the local wildlife.

I have joined four Bruny Island cruises and enjoyed each one of them.  The best part of multiple trips is the ocean nor the weather is ever the same on any given day, and while you see the same features, they never appear the same given the influences of the ocean and the weather.

The swift, nimble boats are designed to traverse the waters easily.  The skilful boat skippers navigate as close as safely possible to sea caves, the blowhole, the Monument, and sea cliffs rising to 300 metres above the water.  Along the way, the skippers provide an excellent commentary throughout the trip.

During the cruise, you are highly likely to see dolphins, Australia and New Zealand fur seals and birdlife such as gulls, albatrosses, cormorants, etc.  However, you could get lucky and see other wildlife species such as whales as they traverse the waters on their way to Antarctica.

Safety is foremost with every trip.  Should the weather turn nasty, cruises will be cancelled or modified to suit the conditions.  Before heading out, the boat crews provide a comprehensive safety briefing.

Be prepared to get wet!  The waters around Bruny are rarely calm, with ocean swells rising to four or more metres.  With the swell comes the water but have no fear, Bruny Island Cruises provide gear to stay dry.  Note: if the swells are too big, the cruise will be cancelled.  However, how thrilling it is to ride the swell.  It certainly adds to the excitement.

The Bruny Island cruise is a great trip and a very safe way to explore the wild coastline of Bruny Island.  I am looking forward to my next trip.

The Restaurant

On your return to the Cruise Centre or your just looking for a great lunch, I can highly recommend the Bruny Island Cruise Restaurant where some of the freshest and best seafood in Tasmania is served to their customers.
